Director is a multimedia application authoring platform created by Macromedia and now managed by Adobe Systems. A predecessor product called Videoworks was first released on the Apple Macintosh computer in 1985, which later became Director 1.0 in 1988. In 1994, Macromedia added Windows support. On January 27, 2017, Adobe announced that it was discontinuing Director. Sales of Director ceased on February 1, 2017; ongoing updates and support for Adobe Shockwave on Mac ended on March 14, 2017.
