Paradigma Software to Expand and Change Valentina Developer Network
Beaverton, Oregon-based Paradigma Software, Inc announces changes to the Valentina Developer Network program – which allows vendors to create and deploy fast, data-centric solutions that include the royalty free Valentina Embedded Server. VDN Professional and higher will be revised with many new features and a new price plan.
Unlike the majority of commercial databases, Valentina Developer Network allows developers to rebrand and deploy Valentina Embedded Server – an OEM version of Valentina Office Server – royalty free and in unlimited quantities. VDN Platform Edition costs $599, whereas Valentina Office Server begins at $300 per deployment. Introductory pricing for the other VDN products will be good through February 15, 2007.
Valentina Developer Network Platform Edition 2007 includes a set of tools for all supported operating systems of one development environment. For example, Adobe Director is available for Windows and MacOS X –VDN Platform Edition (Director) developers can build Windows and MacOS X Director projects and Shockwave-based projects around Embedded Server. It also includes:
- Free copies of Valentina Office Developer Edition for internal use and testing
- Two years of updates for all included products
- Valentina Studio visual browser, query, conversion and databse administrative tool
- 10 connections – resellable links to expand on the five included with each copy of Embedded Server
- The right to deploy Valentina Embedded Server Unlimited for only $400. Volume purchasers should contact Paradigma Software for special arrangements.
VDN Platform Edition sells for $599.
Valentina Developer Network Professional 2007 has an introductory price of $799 and a regular price of $999. Valentina Developer Network Professional includes all features in VDN Platform Edition, in addition to:
- New! Valentina ODBC ADK. This component allows standard ODBC compatible applications and data sources to exchange data with Valentina – allowing Valentina data to be analyzed in Microsoft Excel or Business Objects Crystal Reports. This feature is currently Windows only but is being ported to MacOS X.
- Valentina PHP ADK. This component allows Valentina Embedded Server to be scripted using PHP 4 or PHP 5. This feature is available for Windows and MacOS X.
- New! Valentina Ruby ADK. This component allows Valentina Embedded Server to be scripted using the Ruby language or within the wildly popular Ruby on Rails framework. This feature is currently available on Windows only but is being ported to MacOS X.
- Valentina C++ ADK Extended Edition which includes over 300 header (.h) files, opening the way to custom extensions to the Valentina kernel.
VDN Enterprise 2007 includes a copy of every ADK made by Paradigma Software, including:
- Valentina Adapter for Bonjour. This component is optional for other VDN plans. This component enables Embedded Server to become automatically discoverable on networks using the zero-config protocol.
- Valentina Adapter for SSL. This component is optional for other VDN plans. This component allows connections with Valentina Embedded Server to use an open, standard SSL secure communications protocol.
VDN Enterprise 2007 has an introductory price of $999 and a regular price of $1,499.
VDN is available for most development tools, including Runtime Revolution, Adobe Director, Cocoa/Objective-C, C++ (xCode, MS), REALbasic, .net framework, COM, PHP, Ruby and ODBC.
