Valentina 3.2 Developer and Business Database Products Updated

Custom System Tables, Performance Improvements and Coding Examples

Beaverton, Oregon-based Paradigma Software, Inc announces the release of version 3.2 of its ultra fast database technology Valentina. This update is available across the product line, including Valentina Office Server, Valentina Developer Network and the free, Linux based Valentina Community Server.

Valentina technology release 3.2 provides many improvements to the technologies that set Valentina apart from other databases. New features and improvements include:

  • Custom System Tables. This allows to developers create own tables in the system area of database storage to keep here additional database schema information or application-level data.
  • Field Strings and Values for Adobe Director. When developing with Adobe Director or Macromedia Director, the way null and void values are more compatible with the way the native Director environment works.
  • New Features for COM and REALbasic Development and Database Conversion. New VLink features allows users of REAL Software REALbasic, and developers who work with Visual Basic and Delphi, to more easily convert links from one type to another. This improves database refactoring and interactively porting to Valentina from other database formats such as Access, MS SQL Server, SQLite or mySQL (that can utilize ODBC).
  • More Free Example Code for Visual Basic and REALbasic Developers. New example code showing how to leverage advanced features such as Triggers, Stored Procedures, VLink, and hot database back up.
  • Improvements for PHP Scripting. Valentina Embedded Server and Valentina Office Server have improved performance with PHP 5 on Windows and working with encrypted databases.
  • Valentina Studio 3.2 Diagram View. Now it is possible to auto-generate a visual relationship diagram of your database schema, no matter how complex your database. The top 16 user requested improvements to Valentina Studio Admin Edition were also fixed or improved.

Valentina developer and business products support Windows, Mac OS X and Linux (SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop, Fedora Core and Ubuntu). Paradigma Software recently announced Valentina Community Server in time for OSCON and Ubuntu Live. Valentina Community Server is a free, unlimited connection database server. Valentina Community Server includes support for scripting via PHP 4 or PHP 5 with a server component included in the installation. Support for Ruby on Rails is under development. Valentina 3.2 updates are free for users who have a current update plan across the product line. Valentina ADKs and Valentina Office Server come with one year of free updates.
