Hello,

I am new to this forum and new to Valentina as well.

We are evaluating the feasibility of using Valentina to generate reports from a Xojo application that will be running under Red Hat Linux and connecting to a Microsoft SQL Server 2014 database. I'd appreciate any thoughts, suggestions, etc. about this:

1. Is it possible?
2. Would we have to use ODBC, or is Valentina ADK/Server somehow able to connect to MS SQL from Linux?
3. If ODBC, what driver should we use? Is it installable in Red Hat via YUM?
4. Any other advice?

Thanks in advance for any help...

Hello Peter,

Yes, it is possible to connect from Linux to MS SQL Server.
Everything is already included.

Everything is already included.

means no need install ODBC driver.

VReports and VStudio itself use direct MS SQL protocol.

Btw, Valentina Studio have plugin to manage MS SQL itself as DB.

Thanks for the very quick replies Sergey and Ruslan. So, can you suggest one or more examples to start with? I've downloaded and have been looking at V4RB_7 > Examples...

Thanks again...

There is no separate example for MS SQL Server, but you can look at the following project
Examples/VReport/GeneralOnSQLite/GeneralOnSQLite.xojo_binary_project

The difference is only in the datasource string.

OK. I'm making some progress, but it appears that I need to define reports using Valentina Studio. It also seems that Valentna Studio Pro is required to actually save a project which I can then access from a Xojo project. is that correct?

Is it possible to get a trial license key for VS Pro?
