Id like to introduce you to some of the new additions in Omegabundle for Xojo 2018 this year.

MBS USB Plugin for Xojo
To start off, Monkeybread added the MBS USB Plugin for Xojo which provides classes that work with your application deployments on macOS, Windows and Linux.

This plugin is now a part of the MBS Complete Plugin, included in Omegabundle for Xojo 2018.

The plugin supports USB versions from 1.0 to 3.1 are supported by way of libusb. It joins existing classes for HIDAPI to talk to USB HID devices, the MBS classes for smartcard readers and various dongles.

It may seem too soon to talk about another fantastic Monkeybread plugin included with Omegabundle for Xojo 2018, but this is another case of fantastic connectivity.

MBS Bluetooth Plugin for Xojo
Not only does Monkeybread now have a MBS Bluetooth Plugin for Xojo but has also published a very interesting article on how it was implemented.

This plugin is now a part of the MBS Complete Plugin, included in Omegabundle for Xojo 2018.

Killer Toolbar is one of many user interface improvements for your Xojo applications and a part of GraffitiSuite Desktop Edition.

It uses a theme-based framework so that the toolbar may mimic the look of any toolbar on any operating system, including OS X, Windows XP, Linux KDE Desktop or any other theme or design you care to create. Furthermore, KillerToolBar requires no additional images to be present in your code as all the drawing is handled by the toolbar itself.

Just in time for Omegabundle for Xojo 2018 was the major upgrade to MBS Chart Director to Version 6. Version 6 was released on June 15, 2018. Here are the highlights of this new release:

• Charts as Vectors to PDF. PDF is the ideal format for creating soft or printable copies of charts. Processed in vector format means higher quality output.
  
• SVG User Interaction Features. Modern browsers support SVG in <IMG> tags. ChartDirector 6.0 comes with an upgraded Javascript library that can support user interaction features for SVG, such as AJAX chart updates, tooltips, hot spots, programmable track cursors and zooming and scrolling support. Furthermore, the Javascript library now has touch support. The track cursor can track finger movement in addition to the mouse, and zooming and scrolling can be by tapping.
  
• Viewport Control. This new feature supports both desktop and web applications. The Viewport Control lets users visualize and manipulate the viewport, which is a window on the full data range. Users can move the viewport in 2D to scroll the chart both horizontally and vertically, and resize the viewport to zoom in or out the chart.
  
• Zooming & Scrolling Real Time Charts. ChartDirector 6.0 includes built-in support for zooming and scrolling for realtime charts, in which the viewport will be adjusted as data is updated in realtime.
  
• Meters and Gauges Major Update. Linear meters can now uses bars in addition to pointers to represent data values. Color scales can be added at various positions to represent the scales by color gradients with variable thickness. Discover enhancesments to background, border and pointers styles.

If you are a Raspberry PI developer targeting ARM7 and Debian based Raspbian, you are in luck.

Valentina includes new distribution options for deploying your applications and Valentina Server on the Raspberry PI platform. Raspberry PI is a low power hardware platform based around an ARM processor which can run various operating systems. Following the licensing style of Valentina application developer kits, Linux based licenses will automatically work on Raspberry PI for shipping platforms. The Linux compatible versions of Valentina Server, Valentina DB ADK and Valentina Reports ADK have new implementations for deploying applications on the platform.

Your Linux licenses for Valentina DB ADK for Xojo and Valentina Reports ADK for Xojo will work with our ARM based versions. In addition, if you select the Linux version of Valentina Server, that also will run on ARM based Raspbian / Debian.

Speaking of Raspberry PI, the MBS Complete Plugin on Linux also supports working with a Raspberry PI camera.

DynaPDF Starter lets you create PDF files with your applications on Mac, Windows and Linux with Xojo.

Anyone who needs to create PDF files on client / server systems, requires a PDF library that can deal with current PDF files in the future. The PDF format was greatly extended in recent years and the development does never end. A PDF library must keep pace with this development but it is almost impossible to implement all new features immediately after the publication of a new version of PDF. GuancheMOS allows Xojo macOS, Windows, Linux and Web developers to include in their applications the ability to generate and validate unique serial numbers or license keys with a minimum effort and a minimum footprint in their final executables.

By using this plug-in, Xojo developers will be able also to create their own apps for the automated assignment and control of serial numbers in a per-application basis. Of course the main purpose of GuancheMOS is the integration of the serial validation process in the final apps with the simple call to a function.

MBS Plugin Complete added Gestures support on mac OS in release 18.2 which came out May 22 in 2018.

Gestures for mac OS
New CanvasGesturesMBS class allows you to generically capture gestures on a canvas. This includes swipe, rotate and magnify gestures and now allows you to use standard Canvas to catch them instead of using a NSViewControlMBS control.

Consider the following gestures in the Viewer or Canvas in Final Cut Pro 7 to get an idea what is possible:

• Scroll (two-finger): Scrubs the playhead left or right. This gesture is supported on all standard trackpads and Multi-Touch trackpads, and as such is not strictly a Multi-Touch gesture.
  
• Swipe (three-finger): Swipe up to move the playhead to the beginning of the clip or sequence. Swipe down to move the playhead to the end of the clip or sequence. Swipe left or right to move the playhead to the previous or next edit point.
  
• Pinch: Pinch closed to zoom out of the window. Pinch open to zoom in to the window.
  
• Rotate: Rotate left or right to scrub the playhead left or right.
