Hi,

I'm totally new to Valentina. So please be patient with me :-)

I have a productiv-database and a test-database, how can I apply a diagram created on the test-database to the productiv-database?

With export and import I would be able to do that, but I don't want to do it that way, because then I would have to export and import regularly. I hope there will be a more convenient way to do this.

Best regards, Markus

Hi Markus,

1) Yes
2) "Deployment Wizard..." button is used to apply changes. Buttons "Apply" and "Discard" at the bottom are related to changing the generated scripts manually.

Hi Servey,

thanks for the feedback.

(1) Did I understand you correctly that a diagram can only be applied to another database with export and import and that this is not possible directly?

(2) Thanks for the information regarding the SQL Diff tool. What could be the reason that the apply-button is not active?

Best regards, Markus

Hello Markus,

So you change the test-database on the diagram and apply changes to it.
Then you need to apply these changes to the production-database, right?

Using only the diagrams, there can be some potential problems. For example, you removed some table on the diagram and applied this change to the test-database - there is no mention about this object anymore. If you export-import this diagram to the production-database, the delete action will not be applied to the table.

Another option is to compare structures of the test database and production database using the SQL Diff tool - it shows all differences (introduced with diagrams or simply in the Schema Editor) and generates SQL scripts.
