I just upgraded to Studio Pro for Mac so that I can update and edit records directly from an outputted query, but the "read only" button is not visible in the query. Am I doing something wrong?

Hello Chris,

The "Read-Only" checkbox is below the returned records table view.

I agree that that's where it should be. But it's not there. Attached is a snapshot of my screen.

Currently, the result editing is not available for MS SQL databases.
This was the limitation of the FreeTDS client library.
In the nearest 1-2 hours we'll review the changes made to this library, maybe necessary functionality was already implemented so we can use it in the Valentina Studio.

Hello Chris,

Unfortunately, the necessary features (getting source column and table for each result column) were not implemented in the MS SQL client library. We'll try to support it on the query level (using the static analyzer) but it will not handle complex queries anyway. So currently result editing is only for databases where the client provides necessary information (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite and Valentina databases, as described in documentation)

Did you try the Data Editor filtering (and Data Editor related records) and it doesn't work for your tasks?

I haven't tried the other things that you mentioned. I'm not a programmer, and my knowledge of how to use databases is very limited. I know how to do a query, and that's about it. So I'm able to run my query, which is allowing me to refine the data set that I'm looking at. Then I need to make edits to every line item in the result set, so I was hoping to be able to make those edits directly. Without that functionality, I need to go directly into the vastly larger table to update the records, which simply takes a lot more time.

Hi Chris,

Table Editor is MUCH SIMPLER of SQL queries. And it allows you to edit records of a single table.

I wonder, your SQL queries are simple or complex?
If they are complex then this means somebody else has prepared them?

=====
Sergey did mention that we can try to implement this for MS SQL using parsing of an original SQL query,
to understand what is in the result.

But most probably we will be able to do this for simple enough SELECts.
And this at least 1-2 week of a hard job. And only for MS SQL.

Please provide more info to us on the above questions, and we will think
