Hi, I have a query that is returning data for a Boxes type chart but when I switch over to pie charts, the example disappears and nothing is generated with the report at all.

Also where is the documentation that details how to customize the labels? For example here:

https://valentina-db.com/docs/dokuwiki/v7/lib/exe/fetch.php?cache=&;w=294&h=245&media=valentina:products:vstudio:picts:vs_reports_controls_chart_example_pie.png

It shows labels in the pie chart along with percentages. How is that done?

Ben

Hello Ben,

So when you switch to pie chart - nothing is shown in the design mode, right? Could you please make a screenshot (layout+property inspector with the chart selected)?

To show the labels, the query should return two columns: the first is the value, the second is the label.

Sergey,

Correct, even in the designer the chart shows empty.

In image bars1.png you see the designer with a working bar graph.
in image bars2.png you see the query/source data window for the bar graph
in image pie1.png you see me changing the type to pie.
in image pie2.png you see the result in the designer (blank) along with the properties on the right.

Is that what you needed?

Ben

The fix will be available in the version 8.3.7, we'll release it in a few days along with other fixes.

Sergey,

I have another question. I have a chart that I suppose I'll eventually convert to a pie chart, but having it as a bar graph for the time being makes me wonder: See the amounts on the left? How can I get amounts higher than 999,999 to be formatted in something other than scientific notation? Further, how can I get all amounts formatted that way (so the bottom would show $500,000 instead of 500000)?

Hello Ben,

We use the GNUPLOT charting library, so it is possible to change the format of Y-axis labels using the gnuplot script in the property inspector.

There are two ways.
1) Set the custom format
set format y "$%.2f"

But it doesn't print the thousands separator

2) Define the custom Y tics
set ytics ("$1,000,000" 1e6, "$500,000" 5e5, "$300,000" 3e5)
